International
Inter-university cooperation between UFRB and Paul Valéry Montpellier University 3
Valid until August 31, 2025, it covers the areas of Arts, Languages, Languages, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The cooperation between both universities aims to encourage and develop: exchanges of professors and researchers and, eventually, technical and administrative employees; exchanges of in-person or Distance Learning students, for study and research purposes, insofar as they meet the admission conditions in force at each of the universities; joint research programs, colloquia, seminars, conferences on research topics of common interest; exchanges of information regarding teaching programs as well as publications, theses, books and magazines of common interest; and the organization of cultural events of common interest.
International Congress on Cultures
The itinerant event that each year, is promoted by one of the partner universities of international cooperation, formed by the Federal University of Bahia (Multidisciplinary Graduate Program in Culture and Society), Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (Postgraduate Program in Communication), University of Beira Interior (Cultural Sciences Course), University of Minho (Center for Communication and Society Studies) and Zambezi University, in Mozambique. The event is one of the multiple activities that make up the academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation relations between the aforementioned institutions which, in addition to the congress, include conferences, short courses, masterclasses, academic visits, seminars, conferences, doctoral internships, and, above all, the creation of a network of cultural researchers.
Iwalewahaus of the Universität Bayreuth
Prof. Jorge Luiz Cunha Cardoso Filho maintains cooperative relationships with professors from Fakultät für Sprach and Literaturwissenschaft and with the Iwalewahaus from Universität Bayreuth, in the development of the research entitled “Media flows and sensibilities in Brazil and Germany: a program of studies on technical, aesthetic and policies in emerging cultural expressions”, which seeks to promote comparative studies of the relations between politics, aesthetics and technique in manifestations and media flows on the internet related to peripheral cultures in Brazil and Germany.
In 2017, prof. Danillo Barata was awarded by the University of Bayreuth International Junior Fellowship, in recognition of his contribution to research and teaching in the area of African studies by the University of Bayreuth, which resulted in his stay at the university for a period of one month for technical visit, meetings research and scientific and technological cooperation, in which the following activities were carried out: 1. Conference at the 'Hauntology' as a means to think through future - Working Group of the University of Bayreuth and the Iwalewahaus; 2. Presentation of work in Afro Brazilian Art: the universe of J. Cunha at the Research Colloquium of the University of Bayreuth; 3. Conference "Sound Landscapes" at the Iwalewa Haus Museum, linked to the University of Bayreuth, Germany; 4. Conception and assembly of the video installation “Cura”, which seeks to make sense of the relationships it creates between the former Engenho da Vitória, in Cachoeira/BA, and the performance of the singer and composer Mateus Aleluia, during the research Colloquium – Chair of Afrikanistik, in the city of Bayreuth, Germany. Also as a result of the scholarship received, the professor wrote the chapter “Cure: House of the Spirits” for the work “Ghosts, spectres, revenants. Hauntology as a means to think and feel future”, organized by Katharina Fink, Marie-Anne Kohl and Nadine Siegert and published in 2020 by Iwalewabooks.
International Film and TV School San Antonio de Los Baños
Prof. Amaranta Emília César do Santos maintains cooperative relations with the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV San Antonio de Los Baños, in Cuba. Prof. Danillo Silva Barata maintains cooperative relationships with the Iwalewahaus of the Universität Bayreuth, having been awarded, in 2017, the University of Bayreuth International Junior Fellowship, in recognition of his contribution to research and teaching in the area of African studies.

GEEECA – Study Group Group Aesthetic Experience: Communication and Arts and Rosza Filmes Produções
Holding meetings aimed at monitoring cultural projects, with a focus on audiovisual. Based on the cinematographic production processes developed by the producer, studies/reflections/maps related to the qualification of resources for the realization of audiovisual products are shared, training filmmakers and producers. The partnership is based on the assumption that it is through understanding the functioning of public policies and their notices that it becomes possible to develop audiovisual projects that articulate production and creation processes based on the creative perspective of culture, linked to the community. The program monitors projects, from preparation to registration in public notices, through individual consultations, which also cover the discussion of narrative, aesthetic, and production aspects. The project also seeks to stimulate economic development in the region through cultural production.
Network of Research Groups Historicities of Communication Processes
COMUM – Research and Extension Group in Communication, Media and Narratives of Cultural Change, led by professors Jussara Peixoto Maia and Daniela Abreu Matos, and GEEECA – Group Study Group Aesthetic Experience: Communication and Arts, led by prof. Jorge Luiz Cunha Cardoso Filho, make up the Network of Research Groups Historicities of Communication Processes, constituted by Brazilian research groups dedicated to the study of time as a category for understanding the phenomena and products of Communication. The network is made up of groups linked to the Graduate Programs in Communication at UFBA, UFRJ, UFMG, UFPI, UERJ, USP, UFOP, UFRB, Fiocruz, and UFU.
Project "Processes for admission to higher education: transitions, supports and arrangements among young people from public universities in the State of Bahia"
The partnership between prof. Daniela Abreu Matos (COMUM – Research and Extension Group in Communication, Media and Narratives of Cultural Change) and researchers from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), in the development of research on the processes of transition and adaptation to higher education for young people students from eight undergraduate courses at UEFS and UFRB.
